Eardley Factor Confidently Predicts Bush Victory All the current straws in the wind are pointing to a Kerry triumph on Tuesday. We at Eardleyfactor say they are wrong. The result may well be tight, but Bush is sure to be the victor once again. Such a prediction deserves an explanation so we're more than happy to provide one. On the face of it, Bush should be consigned to history. He has led this nation into a war that is unpopular. Weapons of mass destruction are nowhere to be found and the Iraqi people, far from appearing grateful, seem to have forgotten how to say thank you. Somehow, they remind one of the Christian Parable of the Ten Lepers when only one of the ten returns to thank Jesus for his cure. As I write, more than 1,100 U.S. families have suffered bereavement due to action in Iraq, and clearly there are more to come. The economy is sluggish, the dollar is weak, and gas prices are through the roof. Jobs are being exported to Third World countries by the tens of thousands, and we are told that one family in seven in Ohio of all places has a family member who has lost his livelihood during the Bush First Term. America is just about as unpopular abroad as it has ever been, and only Tony Blair and the U.K. has stood by us. George W. Bush is no intellectual, and many of his speeches have been punctuated by his predisposition to make 'faux pas.' What on earth has he going for him which would inspire the 'eardleyfactor' to predict success for him and his supporters next Tuesday? The simple Truth is that George Bush has God on his side. I mean it.
Not in the simplistic manner in which the Europeans all invoked God to
be on their side during World War One. It is rather more complex than
that. Allow us to explain! Similarly, the Post World War II peace, brought about largely by the
new Superpower, the USA, faced a similar threat. America's religious and social values are being assailed on every side.
The evangelicals, relatively inactive in 2000, have led a remarkable fight
back. We hear that millions of them in America's heartland' are geared
up to fight the 'liberal' and by implication the 'Democratic' values of
gay marriage, gay bishops and access to even more liberal abortion. Not
only the Evangelicals, but all those millions throughout the country who
wish to have certainty restored to what they perceive to be an increasingly
anarchical and leaderless society have been energized. Bush provides that
certainty. He speaks plainly in language that all can understand. He speaks
of 'Freedom' and 'Democracy'.......'making the world a safer and better
place. He is at ease with his Christianity. He is, after all, 'born again.'
Kerry is at odds with his Church on gay marriage and abortion, and there
is even doubt concerning his 'Irish roots.' Can we trust a man who flip-flops
with his beliefs and his origins? Kerry is vague about how he would keep
us safe and is negative about everything Bush has achieved----even keeping
us safe since 9/11. Moreover, more importantly, they do not wish to take chances with their survival after death. Our interpretation of the American mood based on our knowledge of human motivation is that the population is tired of moral anarchy, waverers and lack of clarity. We at Eardleyfactor have certainty that Kerry will not succeed because he has taken on God himself. Not literally, of course. Like us all, he perceives himself to be a good man, but in appearing to be 'all things to all men,' his message is dilute. Is he really against the War in Iraq, and if so, how does he plan to end it and preserve America's safety at the same time. There is no clear exit strategy on display except that he will look for more allies. We at the 'factor' are more aware of what he is against rather than what he is 'for.' America craves a clear and unambiguous message. Bush provides that. 'At least with Bush you know what you're getting,' says the man in the street. With just a few days to go, we are ever more certain that Tuesday will usher in a second term for George W. Bush. This President may have his limitations, but 'With God on his side' how can he lose? As usual we at 'Eardleyfactor' encourage feedback. Send your comments |
